I was going to complain about the quality of, heh, "beaches" along Lake Huron's Michigan shoreline, but that would be somewhat cruel and unusual. Instead, here is one of the many waterfalls found in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Munising Falls.
While the western and central parts of the Upper Peninsula do not sit on the Canadian Shield, at least not where it lies exposed, the waters have a different potency and taste to them than would expect from a stream like this. The flora and ever present sand are pretty much the same as what one can find in Ontario, though, and the water still gets stained by tannin enough to be golden.
It is a nice waterfall, typical of what one would expect in the best part of Michigan. Eastern and northern falls might not be as tall and dramatic as those out west, but the smaller scale certainly adds to the tranquil intimacy of the settings in which they are commonly found.
