Sunday Afternoon Post: The Daytime Skyline of Las Vegas

Las Vegas, if it were not so famous, would come as a shock to anyone traversing the Nevada portion of the Mojave Desert.  While the land is not exactly barren, the deserts of Clark, Nye, and Lincoln counties are pretty dry and somewhat devoid of urban presence.

That is, of course, until you head over the hills surrounding Vegas.

All of a sudden, a world of skyscrapers, large sporting venues, and the sprawling neighborhoods of over 1,000,000 people jumps into view, shimmering like an oasis in the desert heat.
