Wednesday Post: Once Upon a Time in Philadelphia

Some men met, argued over things, sweated out hot temperatures without air conditioning and while wearing heavy suits, and then magically found a consensus and told Britain that they were pretty much all about making their own destiny from here on out.  They also managed to stand still long enough to be painted!  Enjoy the sweltering day, and remember that you do have air conditioning and are probably not wearing a suit in the heat, at least not with a cravat and tight breeches, at any rate.

Public Domain, but the painting is by John Trumbull and can be found in the United States Capitol Rotunda.
